In CWP v5.0 or above, please check if "teaching rules" is applied. When "Teaching rules" is on, many input options are disabled, so that users are forced to type exactly correct code to input Chinese. Users can configure "teaching rules" from "Tools"->"Options"->"Teaching", select which options to enable. Simply click the "teaching rules" button again to disable "teaching rules".
